Open Stages
A Compendium of Open Sources for Theater Educators & Practitioners
Radical Sharing
Welcome!
This website curates open-source materials that can be of practical use for theater educators, students, and artists.

What sources can you freely use and adapt in your classroom as an educator? If you are a theater practitioner, how can you continue to expand your knowledge? What are some of the materials that you can use and adapt for your projects without dealing with complicated or costly license agreements?

The ideal open-source content allows users to adapt and share the materials without many restrictions. Creative Commons (CC), a nonprofit that offers authors licenses and other legal tools to share their work, stipulates a few different levels of licensed materials. Additionally, any work in the public domain is, by definition, free to use and reuse.
Under each subheading in the main menu, I have organized relevant content from less restrictive to more restrictive, depending on what the user can do with it. I have also added an explanation of the license governing the use and reuse of that specific material and a personal take on how I think the content may be helpful to you.
